This course is designed to understand the relationships among technology, organizations, and individuals. It is the study of how to use technology to manage information in workplaces. Technology, information, and innovation change individuals' lives and how companies work. This course, therefore, focuses on information systems and technologies at companies to gain competitive advantage, solve problems, and support decisions. It covers the significance of management information systems, information technologies (hardware, software, mobile systems, database processing, and the cloud), the importance of information systems for the competitive advantage of companies, and information systems security, management, and development. Importantly, case studies will be heavily used to understand real-life implementation and challenges.
